A little birdie told me

My baby turns two in a few weeks, so there is a pre-birthday to-do list that I'm working on. First on the list was some invitations to her party.

Out of all the invites I've made for the girl's birthdays these are my favourite. They were fun and easy to make, and the postage stamp cost more than the finished card. It probably helps that no computer was involved, unlike past efforts. When it comes to photoshop et al my visions far outstrip what few skills I possess, and many terse words are said.

Most of the paper used in the collage was from an old magazine. I'm going to make more of these for some thank you cards, but using some pieces of sheet music instead of 'tweet tweet'. I definitely see more magazine-paper collage happening here in the future!

This is ... a work in progress

This poor kitty has been hanging upside down (and earless I might add) for a couple days now. Sewing one minute ... tending to a should-be-sleeping child the next. The next night she was abandoned for the final episodes of Avatar. My aim is to relieve her from her awkward position tonight.

Thanks to three buttons for hosting 'this is', and to Debbie for nominating this weeks theme.

Dressed and ready

Here she is all dressed and ready to go for a visit to Mikes for Softies for Mirabel. Just saying farewell to a little doggie friend.

I couldn't find a pattern for such small clothes, so I made one up. And they actually fit her first go! Lessons learnt? Of course!

- It's really hard to turn a top to the right side through narrow shoulder straps
- Don't forget to leave a tail hole
- Lengthen the center seam when making pants again, unless trying to make hipsters

Next project? A curtain for our study window. It's getting mighty chilly in there of an evening lately. How daunting is $300 worth of fabric?? Must not get scared and procrastinate.

Mobile in the making

This pile of sticks and folded magazine paper ...

... will soon become a mobile to hang in our baby girl's room.

The trouble is I've gotten this far and am not quite sure how to make it to the finish line. I will have a finished mobile within a week, allowing for a couple more days of procrastination.
